Massif de l'Estérel

Narrow gorges, rugged peaks...
A world of untamed volcanic scrubland plunging directly to the sea, here and there giving way to rocky inlets, waiting for you to dive into the water. Welcome to the massif de l'Esterel, an exceptional natural park!

Its red colouring, which changes according to the time of day, the position of the sun, the shadows and the seasons is due to the volcanic nature of its rock, dating from the Primary Era. Between its lava peaks and gorges, you will find the ancient ruins of secret, mysterious thieves' dens overlooking the open sea and the waves.

The wild boar trail. Here you can explore the paths through the "garrigue" scrubland, cork trees and pines which climb to the heights or hurtle down the precipices. The king of this wild domain, a sight to be seen amidst the unspoilt beauty of your hike, is Le Mont Vinaigre. To admire this mountain, follow the wild boar trail, overlooked by the summits of the Mercantour (National Park), the chalk ridges of the Lachens and the Audibergue and finally the bays of Cannes and Fréjus.

Take a break. The aridness of these parts can be seen in the bareness of the rock formations and the dormant beehives. A thousand scents assail you: the perfume of the Mediterranean scrubland, with thyme, wild heather, broom and rock rose...And soon, following the path by the deep blue sea, you'll discover an enchanted, deserted cove, waiting just for you. The only sounds are the cicadas and the waves. Time, perhaps, to close your eyes and relax?
